Lobbying and Representation

Alongside project delivery, the BID plays a crucial lobbying role in representing the interests of the town and its business community.  This can range from local strategic issues affecting High Wycombe through to national debates.  It can also include operational discussions where these impact on business sustainability.

HWBIDCo has a quarterly client meeting with the District Council and makes regular presentations to Town Committee and the Local Strategic Partnership.  It also meets regularly with organisations such as Bucks Business First, who oversee the economic agenda for the County as a whole.

At present, this area of work comprises the following:

  • Options for short-term parking charges;
  • Master-plan and Public Realm consultations;
  • Planning Application comments;
  • Economic strategy and vision for High Wycombe within the context of Bucks;
  • Debates including business rates, night-time economy, apprenticeships and other employment agendas.
